Who has invented Tramezzino?
There is no fully 100% confidence, it seems that Piedmonts were the first to invent the Italian version of English tea sandwich, but it certainly was Venice to make it famous and well known.
What is the Venetian Tramezzino? This is not that sandwich full of bread and poor in contents that you can usually find in many bars throughout Italy.

Venetian Tramezzino is a soft triangle stuffed so full that seems to explode!
The tourist of 50-es found out how Tramezzino was going marvelously well with the par excellence local drink, Spritzetto, and with the tradition of Italian fast-food as well.

The recipe of Tramezzino is simple but needs to follow some rules:
  • soft loaf sliced bread
  • light homemade mayo made every day by "old school" recipe
  • puffy "smile" shape
  • rich and greedy fillings

  • The standard stuffings of Tramezzino have already become a Venetian tradition, but the sky's the limit when it comes to tastes and combinations, real gourmet delights!

In Venice it became a real habit: Tramezzino as light appetizers in mid-morning or mid-afternoon, a quick solution for complete lunch, but also a perfect "friend" of Spritz during aperitif.
    Spritzetto Story
Spritz is officially considered to be the typical Venetian beverage, made of soda water, Prosecco wine, ice, lemon slice and, on choice, Select, Aperol, Campari or Cynar. Spritz is the Italian name, but in Venice it is called Spriss or, with love, Sprisseto.

The origins of this beverage are not that much clear, seems that it has something to do with Austro-Hungarian Empire occupation of Venice in the middle of 800.

The Austro-Hungarian soldiers used to dilute with sparkling water high alcohol content wines from Veneto, hence comes the origin of the name, it derives from the German verb "spritzen" which means "spray", the gesture indeed to stretch your wine with sparkling water.

TRAME' offers and celebrates the tradition of Venetian Spritzetto as a perfect and gallant "partner" of its Tramezzini. In Trame' , as well as in Venice, Spritzetto is a true lifestyle, is not just an aperitif par excellence but a real ritual.
